Narrative: The Legend of Kemukus Mountain





Once upon a time there was kingdom named Majapahit. The king of Majapahit was king Brawijaya, he had a selir named Dewi Ontrowulan. From Dewi Ontrowulan he had a son named prince Samudro. When Prince Samudro was teenage, he went outside of kingdom to study. After a years, he came back to Majapahit and he fallen in love with Dewi Ontrowulan his own mother who had beautiful and good looking face. Unexpectedly, Dewi Ontrowulan also fallin in love with Prince Samudro and she took his love.

Knowing that his selir and son fallin in love, king Brawijaya was furious and he asked them got out of the kingdom unhonourly. Prince Samudro and Dewi Ontrowulan got out of the kingdom and went to Kemukus Mountain. There they were marriage and lived happily. Dewi Ontrowulan had a place which made her fascinated and she often visited it where there was a sendang.

One day, Dewi Ontrowulan went meditate in a far place and for long time. Besides, in home, Prince Samudro had ill then he died. People of Blorong village bathe his corpse in sendang and buried it in Kemukus Mountain. Dewi Ontrowulan didn’t know it when she returned home she took a bath in sendang and immediately went to the top of Kemukus Mountain to see her lovely husband. When she arrived home she saw many people finished buried Prince Samudra.  Dewi Ontrowulan was very sad and suddenly she also died in that place although it was late night but people still buried Dewi Ontrowulan.

The grave of Prince Samudro and Dewi Ontrowulan was on hill. On the top of the hill always had black fog in dry or wet season and because of that that hill was called Gunung Kemukus until nowadays.
