She
was allegedly attacked by four of her male classmates on April 30 at about 9
a.m., while having a break at school.
Jihan’s
mother, Erma Suryani, said her daughter complained of a pain on May 2. Erma
found bruises on her daughter’s thigh and waist. She later took Jihan to school
to ask for permission not to attend classes. A teacher advised Erma to take
Jihan to a masseuse.
Erma said her daughter’s condition
worsened on Sunday. She fainted at 11 p.m. and she was rushed to the state-run
RSUD Rabain Hospital in Muara Enim for further treatment, but did not survive.
Jihan died at about 2 a.m. the following day.
Violence involving children has raised
concerns over the state of children in the country, with a spate of incidents
in big cities like Jakarta and other parts of the country.source:
